Set Up an Hourly-Wage Employment
With an hourly wage there are no target hours – what gets worked, gets paid. Here is how to set it up.
1. Set the employment level to 0 %
Go to Team → Employees → Employment and add an entry with 0 % using the plus icon (+) (leave the end date empty).
💡 This entry is mandatory
Without an employment entry Samay automatically calculates with 100 % – the employee would have full target hours every month and a large negative balance.
2. Track time as usual
The employee records time normally in the Working Hours tab. Since the target is 0, every recorded hour counts as a plus in the balance.
The balance under Team → Employees therefore shows the hours to be paid out directly.
3. Offset after payroll
Paid hours are not deducted automatically. Subtract them in the Overtime field after each payroll run, otherwise the balance keeps adding up over the year.
Example: balance 42 h, 40 h paid out → remove those 40 hours in the overtime field, leaving 2 h.
Vacation with an hourly wage
The vacation supplement (8.33 % for 4 weeks, 10.64 % for 5 weeks) is not calculated automatically. Two options:
- Pay the supplement with the wage – leave the vacation balance at 0
- Take vacation as time off – calculate the earned vacation hours periodically and enter them in the vacation balance. Time taken is deducted automatically when booking the absence type "Vacation"
